Building Firmware Intel Edison
This page contains some notes I made when I first tried to get my head around the Intel Edison firmware and firmware build.
Everything on this page was done on a desktop running Debian Jessie.
Everything needed was found on this page: .
In particular the "Intel Edison® Board Firmware Software Release 2.1 - Linux Source Files" (here).
Unpacking that file result in a directory called "edison-src/".
Building the image was quite simple once I realized that 90 % of the online documentation was wrong - or at least not related to Intel's software.
And that is it. After about 6-8 hours (and that is on a quad core quite up to date desktop with quite a lot of memory), the resulting firmware is available in:
